Common faults
Why gate motors stop working
If your electric gate motor is not working, the cause is usually one of these:
- Motor burnout from age, weather exposure or power surges.
- Wiring or power faults that stop power reaching the motor.
- Remote problems such as flat batteries, signal issues or a faulty receiver.
- An obstructed or stuck gate from debris on the track or a gate out of alignment.
- Slow or weak movement from a worn motor struggling under the load.
We find the fault on site and repair it where we can. Read our guide on how to repair an electric gate for checks you can make yourself first.

Beyond repair?
Gate motor replacement
If a motor is beyond repair or too old to be reliable, replacing it is the better long-term fix. We supply and install replacement motors for sliding gates, swing gates and commercial gates, with manufacturer warranties on new motors. A newer motor can also add Wi-Fi and app control. See gate motor replacement for more detail.
Turn a manual gate into an automatic gate
We can also motorise an existing manual swing or sliding gate, with remote or keypad access, safety beams and battery backup. Find out more about adding a motor to your existing gate.

FAQs
Gate repair questions
Can’t find what you need? Call Daryl on 0435 817 147.
Do you repair gates you did not install?
Yes. We repair automatic sliding and swing gates of all major motor brands, whoever installed them.
What should I check before calling?
Check the remote battery, make sure nothing is blocking the track or the safety beams, and check that the power to the gate is on. If the gate still will not move, call us and tell us the motor brand and what the gate is doing.
Should I repair or replace my gate motor?
If the motor is fairly new and the fault is a part, a repair is usually the better value. If the motor is old, keeps failing or parts are hard to get, a replacement is often cheaper over time. We give you both options when we can.
Do you service and repair gates?
Yes. We maintain and repair the gates we install and other automatic gates, including all major motor brands. Regular servicing keeps a gate running smoothly and helps avoid bigger repair bills later.
What are your payment terms?
We take a deposit to start the job, and the balance is due when the installation is finished.
